Romania, Timisoara

In 2004 Bread Against Misery built a training bakery in Timisoara, Romania.
Timisoara has about 320,000 inhabitants and is located in the west part of the country.
In 1994, the Rudolf Walther Foundation established a children’s village to alleviate the catastrophic living conditions of neglected children from the Ceaucescu regime. Approximately 165 children between the ages of 3 and 18 have found a new home here. There is a kindergarten, a private school and a training center where pre-vocational courses are offered.
The training bakery of Bread Against Misery, was well integrated into the existing structure of the children’s village. In addition to a new oven, a kneading machine, a bread press, a dough sheerer, a proffer, refrigerators, work desks, baking scales and all the small pieces of equipment for the full operation of the bakery were provided by the Foundation.
